The Big Battlefield Bike Ride (BBBR) is our award-winning cycling challenge that combines military history, camaraderie and pedal-powered fundraising in a charity bike ride like no other.

Our BBBR Dunkirk route follows in the footsteps of the British Expeditionary Force and tells the story of Operation Dynamo, when more than 338,000 troops were evacuated from Dunkirk in June 1940.

For over a decade, our charity bike ride has used pedal-power to raise vital funds to give strength to veterans and their families.

"One of the best weeks of my life."

Where does my money go?

We want you to know exactly where your money is going. Your total fundraising target is £3,000.

£199 of this is payable on registration. £1,631 is due by 10 March 2023 to cover the costs of your trip. £1,170 is due 8 September 2023, bringing the total to £3,000.

The next £1,631 needs to be raised by 10 March 2023 to cover the cost of your trip. This pays for:

  • Transport and transfers throughout the challenge; ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, coach transfers and Eurostar home
  • Accommodation (six nights, Sunday 11 June - Friday 16 June)
  • All meals and refreshments (including welcome dinner at Portsmouth on Sunday 11 June and breakfast on Saturday 17 June before return journey
  • Mechanical support
  • Unique history tours and ceremonial memorial events led by our own team of historians
  • Exclusive BBBR cycling jersey and medal

It also pays for an experience like no other that you will remember for the rest of your life!

After meeting the costs of your trip, every penny you raise above this up to your total fundraising target (£3,000 due by 8 September 2023) and beyond, goes to help veterans and their families.

ITINERARY

Our exciting cycle challenge takes us from Étretat through Northern France to Dunkirk, visiting some of the region’s most significant battle sites from both World Wars, including Dieppe and Ypres, before following in the footsteps of the British Expeditionary Force.

En route we will pay our respects at the many memorials and cemeteries, ensuring that we include the stories of as many ancestors of those taking part in the ride as possible.

You'll be cycling around 70 miles a day over five days through the beautiful countryside of northern France. Experience a true sense of camaraderie cycling alongside hundreds of fellow fundraisers; what better way to honour the incredible commitment, dedication and bravery of our Armed Forces than by challenging yourself alongside our veterans on this iconic bike ride.

Starting on the cliffs of Étretat, cycling to Dieppe via Saint-Valery-en-Caux.
