Frequently asked fundraising questions
Fundraising is exciting, energetic and lots of fun! Here are some things you may want to know.
A beautiful weekend trek following the dramatic coastline of North Cornwall with rugged cliffs, hidden coves and old fishing villages forming a beautiful backdrop to the blue sea.
Starting at Harlyn Bay, west of Padstow, we walk for 24 hilly miles to St Agnes – a challenging distance considering the terrain. We pass the well-known beach stacks of Bedruthan Steps, as well as old reminders of Cornwall’s mining heritage, while Poldark fans will recognise some key filming locations, such as Holywell Bay, with the much-filmed Gull Rocks off-shore.
This is a tough weekend challenge, but a spectacular and inspiring experience which will give you an unforgettable sense of achievement!
What's included once signed up?
The challenge is organised and managed by our event provider, Discover Adventure.
Meet in the evening at our hostel accommodation and get to know your fellow fundraisers. There is plenty of choice nearby for an evening meal. (Please note dinner is not included in your event costs.)
After a short transfer to Harlyn Bar we follow the undulating cliff-top path for 14 miles/22.5km, with fabulous views of sandy coves, wide sweeping bays and islands off the coast. We pass Porthcothan Bay (Nampara Cove for Poldark fans) heading south to admire the views over Bedruthan Steps with its dramatic slate stacks. We continue to Watergate Bay, a short distance from Newquay, before transferring back to our accommodation.
After breakfast we transfer to Holywell Bay, south of Newquay, to resume the final 10 miles/15km of our challenge. The beautiful wide sandy beach, with its distinctive Gull Rock offshore, will be instantly recognisable as Warleggans' Beach in Poldark. We continue past Perranporth Beach and head onto rugged St Agnes Head, known for its mining heritage and a wonderful location to end our trek. We will transfer back to our accommodation to say our farewells and head home.
