Ben, a Help for Heroes Band of Brothers member, is taking on the sporting challenge of his life; pounding the streets of London as part of the London Marathon today, to raise vital funds for Help for Heroes.
25 year old Ben, was involved in a fatal car accident in October 2011, which left him in a coma for two weeks. When he woke he was transferred to Headley Court where he underwent intense rehab for the traumatic brain injury he’d suffered. After over two years of steady recovery, Ben is now ready to start challenging himself, and what better challenge than the London Marathon, which he hopes to complete within three and a half hours.
As well as being a huge feat, Ben has another reason to want to run the London Marathon – to raise as much money as he can for Help for Heroes, a charity who has helped him along his road to recovery, he says: “Throughout my recovery, I have had continuous support from Help for Heroes, if it hadn't been for them I wouldn't be where I am today. Now it's time to pay them back.”
